Tausha Carlson embodies the best of Austin entrepreneurship. She strives to be an inspiration to others and is fueled not by a desire for great success, but by a desire to do good works.
As she says, “I felt pretty fearless when I started Marathon Real Estate. It gave me the opportunity to harness my passion, have more freedom and tackle new challenges. I wanted to position myself so that my actions aligned with my philosophy for living. Most importantly, I wanted to be in the best possible position to make a positive and lasting impact on the world.”
Tausha discovered her passion for real estate in 2003 when she purchased her first homestead, fixed it up, and sold it two short years later for a tidy, tax-free profit. Since then, she has “flipped” homes, served as a general contractor, and invested in rental properties. Finding her passion for real estate drove Tausha to become a licensed real estate broker and to launch Marathon Real Estate in 2006. Additionally, she has earned multiple industry certifications, including recognition as a Certified Negotiation Expert and certification as a Luxury Home Marketing Specialist. She has obtained the National Association of Realtors Green Designation and is a Certified Residential Specialist. Tausha’s breadth of experience and expert knowledge of the real estate field enables her to provide astute assessments of her clients’ real estate needs, creating a remarkable upside in the client experience. She talks her clients through each step of the process, asks them about their hopes and concerns, and develops a deep understanding of their needs. She’s even been known to crawl under a house simply to get that extra bit of information needed for a client.
Not content to be a client’s one-time real estate agent, Tausha strives to be a life-long real estate advisor. She explains, “My services don’t end with the transaction. I stay in touch with my clients, and I am a resource for them. I’ve helped past real estate clients with everything from fighting property tax assessments to finding great contractors.” Endeavoring to build a strong relationship with each and every client positions Tausha to do the best possible job during the real estate transaction and makes her a go-to resource long after the transaction is complete. Tausha also helps people gain a better understanding of the real estate transaction process through formal education. For over a decade, she has taught several courses in the University of Texas Informal Class Program. Her current course offering is: Austin Real Estate – An Alternative Investment.
A native Texan, Tausha graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned a Master of Science degree from Michigan State University. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and doting on their two children. Casey, their goldendoodle, also gets her fair share of attention. Tausha is a 20-time marathon runner (with a 3:09:29 PR), loves the outdoors and treasures a good book. She is very involved in supporting the community, and her many charitable activities include regular efforts to raise money for the battle against breast cancer, supporting the Town Lake Trail Foundation, and aiding Austin’s homeless.
Tausha is a member of the Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA), and served on its Board for 5 years. She supports Impact Austin, is a member of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, the ATX Powergroup, and avidly attends two community book clubs. She has been recognized for both her professional accomplishments and her philanthropic work. She graduated from the Foundation for Women’s Resources Power Pipeline Program, an elite leadership development program for women of Texas, and was a Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Texas Blazing Star Award finalist in 2007. In 2009 she was named to the Leadership Development Council (LDC) by the RECA, and served on the Steering Committee for the 2010 LDC Class. Tausha was recognized by the Austin Business Journal as one of the top twenty producing real estate agents in the Austin-metro area in 2008, 2009, 2013, and 2014, and she has been a Platinum Top 50 Realtor from 2012 – current. The Young Women’s Alliance and the Young Men’s Business League honored her with a 2009 Austin Under 40 Award, acknowledging her professional contributions to the field of real estate, as well as her fundraising efforts for breast cancer research and awareness programs. Tausha was a member of Leadership Austin’s 2011 Essential Class.
